Position Overview

PSI is seeking a Lieutenant Security Police Officer to support the protection of Department of Energy (DOE) property and assets. This position provides leadership support within the security program and performs Security Police Officer functions as needed. The Lieutenant works under the direction of the Commander and Program Manager and supports security readiness through program updates, self-assessments, and maintaining required qualifications and certifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revise and maintain security program plans, procedures, and related documentation
  • Participate in self-assessments, working groups, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain required Security Police Officer qualifications and certifications
  • Perform Security Police Officer duties and functions as necessary
  • Complete required DOE training and leadership coursework as assigned
  • Support program compliance and readiness requirements
  • Perform other security duties as assigned
  • Report directly to the Commander and Program Manager

Training Requirements

  • DOE National Training Center DOE-101DE: Department of Energy Orientation
  • DOE National Training Center MIT-111/BIT: Introduction to Tactical Leadership
  • Additional DOE National Training Center Supervisor/Leadership Courses
  • Additional DOE National Training Center programmatic security courses

Qualifications

  • Active DOE "L" or "Secret" Security Clearance required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to successfully complete an extensive pre-employment medical evaluation, including a strenuous physical agility test
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment psychological evaluation initially and every five (5) years
  • Ability to successfully complete extensive training, including non-lethal weapons and firearms qualification (initial and semi-annual)
  • Ability to pass initial and annual physical fitness requirements, including a mile run and 40-yard dash test
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written directives including SOPs, safety practices, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work extended shifts including day/night schedules, holidays, and weekends
  • U.S. Citizen required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
