Ampcus Inc. is a certified global provider of a broad range of Technology and Business consulting services. We are in search of a highly motivated candidate to join our talented Team. Job Title: Business Analyst - Finance. Location: Washington, DC. Position Summary:
  • The Operations & Controls Analyst provides hands-on analytical, operational, and governance support across financial planning, reporting, transaction oversight, and audit preparedness.
  • This role supports disciplined financial stewardship by executing standardized processes, preparing detailed analyses, maintaining controls documentation, and supporting resource and commitment oversight across operating and capital budgets.
  • This individual will work closely with cross-functional partners in various departments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial and operational insights that inform leadership decision-making.
  • The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and comfort operating within tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning, Reporting, and Controls:
  • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance analyses using standardized templates, including identification of material variances, root-cause drivers, and draft corrective actions.
  • Support annual and multi-year financial planning (MYFP), quarterly forecasting, and monthly operating and capital expenditure reporting.
  • Maintain and update standardized cost models, assumptions, and reporting tools in approved repositories.
  • Assist with scenario-based financial analysis tied to key decision.
  • Support month-end close activities, including expense reconciliation and accrual preparation.
Transaction Governance and Compliance Oversight:
  • Document and maintain end-to-end workflows for invoice processing, contract requisitions, and purchase orders in partnership with cross-functional partners.
  • Track transaction exceptions, rework, and processing timelines; prepare governance and compliance reporting for leadership review.
  • Support invoice review, vendor billing reconciliation, and PO funding monitoring.
  • Assist with development of job aids and guidance materials related to approval thresholds, routing requirements, and escalation paths.
  • Assist with audit readiness, and performance monitoring.
Resource Planning and Commitment Oversight
  • Monitor purchase order funding utilization and flag underfunded or overcommitted positions.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in financial operations, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), accounting, or business operations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting expense budget management, including operating maintenance and capital development.
  • Hands-on experience with expense reconciliation, invoice review, and vendor billing processes.
  • Prior exposure to audit preparedness, internal controls, or compliance-driven environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modeling, variance analysis, reconciliation).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a structured environment.
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and follow-through skills.
  • Polished oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience and Exposure:
  • Experience working in environments with formal procurement, contract management, and approval protocols.
  • Experience supporting multi-year financial planning or large, complex budgets.
  • Prior collaboration with cross-functional partners such as FP&A, Procurement, and Accounts Payable.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles, including task tracking, issue logs, and milestone-based delivery.
