Current UC San Diego Health CNA (NX) represented RN/NP applicants will be considered after the first 7 days of job posting. All additional applicants will be considered after 14 days of job posting, pending the status of the initial internal CNA (NX) represented applicant pool. UC San Diego Health is a Magnet-designated organization, which is a prestigious recognition that applies to only 10% of all U.S. hospitals. Magnet is the "gold standard" for nursing excellence and is based on strengths in five key areas, which include transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge, innovation and improvement, and empirical outcomes. UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Using the nursing process in the planning and delivery of care, the Registered Nurse (RN) complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies and maintains a safe level of knowledge and skills with technical procedures. The Radiation Oncology RN will be responsible for completing regular biopsychosocial assessments and care plans with patients, communicating and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure coordination of care, providing education to patients/families regarding treatment plans, medications, advance directives, appointments and so forth, assessing patients and families for additional resource and referral needs, evaluating response to plan of care and ensuring appropriate documentation. This RN will also be cross-trained in the procedure room to ensure patient safety while providing pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure care for adult and pediatric patients undergoing brachytherapy and/or moderate sedation. The RN will collaborate with the healthcare team working within the brachytherapy suite to ensure patient safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including infection prevention, sterile technique, instrument management, and care coordination.
