Position Summary

This position will directly affect equipment uptime by apply skills to troubleshoot, inspect, repair and improve manufacturing equipment used to make and deliver umbilical's used in subsea oil and gas operations. Diagnoses and replaces faulty electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and automation controls and components on production equipment. At times will replace faulty relays, switches, motors, gearboxes, cylinders, sensing devices, circuit boards, electric motor bearings and programmable controllers and variable frequency drives (VFD). On occasion, plans layout of wiring and conduit for electrical circuits up to from 24vac thru 480 vac. You will be a critical part of the team that values your expertise, your ideas, and your commitment to doing the job right.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

  • Understand work center training and safety requirements, OEM manuals and other equipment procedures.
  • Continuous improvement through 6S, Lean Practices and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Daily completes computer-based maintenance documentation on work orders. Daily share updates with the team through a turnover correspondence.
  • Maintain knowledge of company maintenance procedures, assist with daily maintenance checks and activities for work center as required.
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Read hydraulic and electrical schematics, comprehend complex drawings, specification, and procedures.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and test various tools and assemblies for onshore and offshore surface and subsea applications.
  • Review project instructions and blueprints to ascertain procedures objectives, test equipment nature of technical problem, and possible solutions such as redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts of subassemblies.
  • Setup and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures that apply to a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) to access work area by passing a background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug and hair follicle test
  • Requires ability to work minimum 8-hour shifts on a rotating or fixed shift. At times, some weekends
  • Possesses basic knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Understanding of flushing and system fluid cleanliness installation.

DESIRED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Electrician/Journeyman License desired.
  • Experience with 480 VAC power systems, breakers, Siemens AC/DC variable frequency drives, basic PLC principles.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is considered SHOP WORK which is characterized as follows:

  • Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%
  • Noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work at heights from ladders and aerial lifting platforms.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/REQUIREMENTS:

This position is considered medium to light work.

  • Employees are required to possess the physical capability to safely operate all designated equipment, always adhering to the applicable safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.
  • Electric, pneumatic and battery powered hand tools to include but not limited to "grinders, saws, cutting devices, sanders, drills, etc"
  • Forklifts, pallets jacks,
  • Cranes.
  • Aerial lift platforms.
  • Welders.
  • Hydraulic tools and power units.

OCCASIONAL:

  • Lift 20-50 pounds.
  • Work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of the arms and hands.
  • Identify color differences.
  • Wear PPE for skin protection.

FREQUENT:

  • Lift 10-25 pounds.
  • Climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects.
  • Twist body, sit with back supported, head forward/flexed, head tilted/rotated, and work with arms extended overhead.
  • Operate motorized vehicles and equipment.

CONSTANT:

  • Lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Wear PPE protection for body, vision, hard hat, safety toe boots and hearing protection.
