QA Engineer (E-commerce / Transaction APIs)

United States, Georgia, Alpharetta
Jan 16, 2026

Genesis10 is currently seeking a QA Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity of 6 months or more, located in Alpharetta, GA. This position is on-site.

Compensation: $60.00 - 65.00 per hour, W2, depending on skill and experience level.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a hands-on QA Engineer to support the quality of e-commerce and transaction-related APIs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys deep, detail-oriented testing, can clearly explain their testing approach, and is comfortable working independently within an Agile team.

This is a highly execution-focused role with a 70% manual / 30% automation split. Candidates must be actively testing day-to-day-this is not a QA Lead or QA Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform manual functional and regression testing for e-commerce APIs and transaction flows.

  • Design, build, and maintain Postman API test suites, including:

    • Collections and environments

    • Dynamic authentication

    • Chaining and orchestration

    • Data setup and teardown scripting

  • Validate request/response payloads, data mappings, and raw transaction message fields (not just API-layer fields).

  • Apply transaction and payments domain thinking to identify edge cases, failure points, and real-world scenarios.

  • Identify, document, and track defects; partner closely with engineering to drive timely resolution.

  • Contribute to test planning, test case design, and continuous improvement of QA processes.

Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of hands-on software QA experience, including API testing in e-commerce, payments, or other transaction-heavy systems.

  • Strong Postman expertise (non-negotiable) - must be able to independently build and maintain robust, end-to-end API test collections.

  • Experience interpreting raw transaction messages and understanding ISO data elements used in transaction messaging.

  • Strong manual testing skills, with the ability to think in detailed, scenario-driven workflows.

  • Ability to clearly explain test strategy, troubleshooting approach, and testing decisions.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Comfortable in a highly hands-on individual contributor role.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship

Highly Preferred/Nice to Have
  • Exposure to basic performance testing concepts or tools.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (running automated API checks as part of delivery).
  • Basic awareness of API security testing (authentication patterns, negative testing, common failure modes)

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • You can break down an API like a puzzle-explaining what each piece does, why it matters, and where it might fail.

  • You bring transaction/payments domain awareness, not just generic API testing.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Approximately 7-8 years into their QA career, still deeply hands-on.

  • Strong manual tester who can also automate (manual strength is the priority).

  • Not a senior QA leader who has moved away from execution.

  • Not a 15+ year, leadership-heavy, hands-off background.

  • You are hands-on, in the weeds, and executing daily.

If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!
