Are you a strategic leader passionate about driving organizational change and fostering sustainable transformation? Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO), the Director, Change Management will spearhead the change management discipline, accelerating adoption of new processes, technologies, and ways of working. As part of the Enterprise Transformation Office (ETO), this role is critical in ensuring transformation initiatives deliver measurable outcomes and embed lasting behaviors. How You Will Contribute:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive change management strategy, including methodology, standards, and toolkits, aligned with corporate strategy and transformation roadmaps.

  • Conduct stakeholder impact assessments, create engagement plans, and build coalitions across executive leadership and functional teams to sustain alignment and remove barriers.

  • Design and deliver communication programs that articulate the "why," "what," and "how" of transformation activities, working closely with Corporate Communications for strategic alignment.

  • Develop training and upskilling initiatives to help employees adopt new processes, technologies, and behaviors, leveraging innovative communication channels and digital adoption tools.

  • Embed change checkpoints into ETO governance processes, ensuring readiness criteria are met before go-live and integrating change activities into prioritization and intake processes.

  • Leverage advanced analytics and feedback loops to optimize change interventions, define KPIs for adoption and behavioral change, and report progress to leadership.

  • Play a key role in post-implementation reviews, ensuring sustainment plans prevent regression and "hold the gains" from a change management perspective.

The Must Haves:

  • Extensive experience in organizational change management, transformation, or related roles within complex, global enterprises.

  • Proven ability to design and execute change strategies for large-scale initiatives impacting multiple functions.

  • Expertise in stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and training program development.

  • Strong understanding of transformation governance, portfolio management, and strategic alignment.

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., Prosci, ACMP, PMP) preferred.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience leveraging predictive analytics and environmental scans to proactively identify change resistance and adoption challenges.

  • Demonstrated ability to empower internal networks of change champions to amplify change messages and gather feedback.

  • Familiarity with innovative communication channels and digital adoption tools to enhance engagement and effectiveness.

  • Strong knowledge of KPIs for behavioral change and adoption, with experience in advanced analytics for continuous optimization.

  • Proven ability to mitigate risks associated with organizational change, including cultural resistance and technology adoption issues.

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $119,400 - $190,700.

The annual pay range for this position in the USA is $133,600 - $213,400.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
