Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

The Senior Risk Officer - New Product and Change Risk helps the bank understand and manage risk across new products, services, and major business changes. The role partners closely with business leaders and second-line teams to evaluate how new initiatives may affect the bank's risk profile. This position guides stakeholders through a structured risk assessment process, identifies issues early, and ensures decisions are informed by a clear view of operational, compliance financial, and other risk categories. The role also supports the continuous improvement of the enterprise change and product risk framework, monitoring and reporting program metrics, maintaining influential relationships with senior management across the Three Lines, and providing support as needed for management and various committees.


Responsibilities

  • Enterprise & Operational Risk Management - Build strong, collaborative relationships with business stakeholders to position the risk team as proactive and trusted partners. Partner with business owners to complete New Product and Change Risk Assessments for new products, services, and changes to existing offerings. Evaluate the impact of proposed initiatives and provide practical recommendations to strengthen controls. Facilitate cross-functional discussions to identify risks, clarify ownership, and ensure alignment across the various Risk Categories. Use Archer to manage workflows, document assessments, maintain supporting evidence, track issues, and support reporting needs. Track items and remediation plans to ensure follow-through and timely resolutions. Review business requirements, process flows, control documentation, and testing results to confirm risks and controls are accurately understood. Prepares written reports for management review and approval. Communicates risk vision and regulatory requirements to stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership - Assists in the training and development process for team associates. Provides guidance on governance practices by establishing work performance standards, on-the-job training, and other educational efforts. Periodically update policies, standards, procedures, and guidance related to enterprise change management, product risk, and the risk assessment methodology. Develop and maintain data used for metrics, dashboard, and executive reporting; monitor trends, identifying outliers, and escalate concerns when necessary. Identify ways to streamline and enhance processes, templates, reporting, and tools; contribute to strategic improvements across the enterprise change and product risk program.
  • Risk Education - Partners with business units to ensure implementation of and compliance with program policies and standards. Develop and deliver training and communications plans to support program awareness, understanding of requirements, and consistent execution across stakeholders. Promotes risk awareness with stakeholders across the Bank through risk presentations, workshops, and roadshow materials.
  • Committees and Projects - Assist in execution of program-owned RCSA activities, control testing plans, risk and controls assessments, issues management, and the program's bi-annual quality assurance control to confirm consistency, adherence to standards, and effectiveness of the oversight approach. Provides support for, or participates as a risk advisor, in preparing and delivering risk summaries and recommendations for risk committees, governance forums, and senior leadership. Apply expertise in Large Financial Institution (LFI) expectations to strengthen oversight, documentation, and governance practices.
  • Business Support - Work with Internal Audit, independent testing teams, and examination teams to gather and validate required information, resolve questions, and support preparation for leadership review. Manages preparation of assigned internal and external activities and participates in related meetings where necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management or Internal/External Consulting OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management or Internal/External Consulting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in risk management, compliance, or audit within banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of LFI standards, regulatory expectations, product development processes, and operational risk frameworks.
  • Hands on experience with Archer or similar GRC platforms.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actional guidance.
  • Skilled at facilitation, negotiation, and influencing across levels and functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment and thin strategically about process and program enhancements.

The base pay for this position is generally between $145,000 and $165,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
