Overview

NV5 is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to lead a location transition. The Geospatial Software DevOps Engineer supports the development and operations for the creation of Geospatial Software products. This role is responsible for transitioning the operational location of the development and test infrastructure from one office location to a shared data center. In partnership with the NV5 IT, this role will plan and execute the move of hardware and virtual infrastructure while reducing the impact to operational processes.

Work Environment:

    Location: NV5 Geospatial Headquarters, Regional offices, or work from home considered
  • Potential travel up 15-20% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with software development stakeholders, IT personnel, DevOps team members, and Geospatial Software Leadership.
  • Develops and champions move strategy and keeps all team members informed of progress and plans.
  • Migrates all DevOps infrastructure including Perforce, Confluence, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Artifactory and Test Data.
  • Maintain CI/CD and Test Infrastructure through transition ensuring development teams can build, deploy and release software.
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot build and transition processes to identify and correct issues in a timely manner.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Systems, Geospatial Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on geospatial technology.
  • Deep knowledge of software engineering including detailed knowledge of at least three of the following topics: requirements, software architecture, program oversight, acquisition management, organizational performance improvement, product assurance, and/or security.
  • Experience in modern software development practices, including continuous integration & deployment, Agile development practices and DevOps or DevSecOps culture.
  • Experience with DevOps to support delivering commercial off the shelf software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and delivering commercial off the shelf software.
  • Experience with Jenkins, Artifactory, Confluence, and VMWare.
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines.
  • Preferred 10 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience scripting in Python and IDL.
