POSITION SUMMARY:



The Project Manager I is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of assigned projects from initiation through completion. This role ensures that each project is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities include managing engineering activities (both desktop and field-based), coordinating scanning and data collection efforts, overseeing order entry and material production timelines, and ensuring effective field installation execution.

The Project Manager is also accountable for quality control, resource allocation, logistics planning, and process evaluation to drive continuous improvement and successful project delivery.




POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Works with Business Development, Engineering, Installation, Production and Customers to determine project needs and develop execution plans.
  • Serves as a direct company representative to customer and provides details and/or suggestions to MSII management.
  • Attends major project meetings and schedules or conducts technical walk downs to define project needs for Turnkey Operations.
  • Reads, updates, and approves Project Definition Documents (PDD) and ensures alignment with scope and client expectations.
  • Identifies equipment needs for the projects and follows through to ensure equipment is ordered and ready for the job.
  • Manages schedules on projects and for direct reports. As well as assists in ensuring all safety training needs are in compliance with regional/project specific standards.
  • Regularly monitors cost of projects to ensure they remain within budgetary guidelines.
  • Review Daily Status Update reports (DSU) to ensure accuracy with appropriate project and material information.
  • Assists sales to address major customer conflicts from a technical standpoint and/or resource constraints.
  • Ensures project material orders are placed in a timely fashion for production.
  • Ensures materials are installed according to customer specification on-site.
  • Identifies and communicates discrepancies between project bids and actual orders.
  • Identifies quality control issues during field engineering and installation and develops corrective action plan accordingly.
  • Oversees quality control of all materials generated as well as product installation on their projects.
  • Provides input from functional areas to the Operations Management team.
  • Motivates direct reports to accomplish the goals of the company. Serves as a mentor and resource for personnel. Actively transfers knowledge to continue development of functional area personnel.
  • Consistently follows and enforces all MSII and site-specific safety protocol to include scheduling onsite safety training for project crew and leading site safety meetings as needed.
  • Involved in staff planning, interviewing and selection of Operations group, as well as performing evaluations, counseling, and staff development training needs
  • Promotes an environment of teamwork and cooperation and is accessible to employees.
  • Assists in training and mentoring of new field employees.
  • Conducts regular project meetings to keep field employees informed of project needs and changes.
  • Upholds the MSII standard of service at all times per MSI procedures
  • Performs all other duties as assigned to support project and company goals.


Qualifications



KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:




  • High School Degree or equivalent and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in in manufacturing, construction or related field a plus.
  • Knowledge of project estimating.
  • Valid Driver's license and clean driving record required.


  • Experience working with lifts, snips and banders is a plus.


  • Proficient in MS Office products, advanced in Excel
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at considerable heights
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various department.
  • Advanced understanding of facility drawings including equipment layouts, plot plans, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities.
  • Exhibits above average organizational skills, multitasking skills and has the ability to recognize and deal appropriately with priorities.




PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT



There is a moderate risk of injury when installing materials on-site. Safety equipment is required to be worn when on site. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average at least 40 hours a week. May require some additional hours based on the field schedule. Travel (up to 1 week a month) to visit their projects as required. Frequent walking, climbing, lifting (25 - 70 lbs), and pushing are expected when on a project site. Consistent and regular attendance required.
