Position Description Develops, supports, and maintains software solutions. Works on moderate to complex technical projects under general supervision, with increasing levels of autonomy. Collaborates with other engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software systems.

**The grade, title and salary for this position will be determined once an assessment is completed on the selected candidates education, experience, and skills (level assigned will be as either a Software Engineer I or Software Engineer II)**
Essential Functions
Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications and services.
Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards and practices.
Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them to functional solutions.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving software defects and performance issues.
Participate in planning and demonstration meetings as part of the agile development process.
Assist with Make vs Buy analysis of solutions to business problems.
Designs cost-effective solutions that meet requirements and adapt effectively to changing requirements.
Work with other areas of IT (Operations and Security) to ensure solutions can be effectively delivered and supported while meeting stringent security requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in incident response efforts to troubleshoot production issues.
Investigates and determines applicability of new and emerging technologies as required.
Participates in project kickoffs and debriefs.
Create documentation and release notes when introducing new applications or major updates.
Practices continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to streamline processes and improve software solutions.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Software Development Life Cycle experience.
Tools and technologies experience:
o Familiarity with front-end frameworks or RESTful API development.
o Proficiency with a modern JavaScript framework (Vue.js, React, Angular).
o Experience using a RDBMS (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
o JavaScript and/or TypeScript
o Experience using a server-side language (C#, Java, Python)
o HTML and CSS
o Experience developing and deploying solutions within Microsoft Azure, including common development, security, and integration services.
o Understanding of Azure GCC High environments, including compliance considerations, secure deployment practices, and limitations specific to government-regulated workloads.
o Practical experience applying AI/ML technologies, including modern LLM integration, prompt engineering, data preparation, and use of cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure AI, OpenAI).
Understanding of secure software techniques.

Anticipated starting salary is in range commensurate with education and experience:
$80,000 - $105,000 |
