What You'll Do

IronArch is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer (API Focus) to strengthen the backend and integration layer for the Beneficiary Travel Self-Service System (BTSSS), a nationwide VA platform that automates travel reimbursement claims for millions of Veterans. BTSSS connects multiple VA systems and APIs that manage eligibility, identity, and payment processing, forming the backbone of Veteran travel benefit automation.

In this role, you will design, build, and optimize RESTful APIs and backend services that connect the Dynamics 365 platform with VA enterprise systems such as iFAMS, CARMA, and FSC. You will work in a secure, cloud-based environment supporting VA's digital modernization goals and ensuring system performance, reliability, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs using C#/.NET and Azure services.
  • Integrate data across VA enterprise systems, ensuring high reliability and scalability.
  • Support modernization of API architecture for improved observability and performance.
  • Implement security best practices, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, FICAM), and data validation.
  • Collaborate with front-end and Dynamics teams to ensure seamless integration and consistent user experience.
  • Develop unit, integration, and performance tests; contribute to automation efforts in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve API or integration issues in production and test environments.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint goals and iterative improvement.
  • Contribute to frontend work in support of BTSSS
Requirements
  • Public Trust Clearance or higher (ability to obtain and maintain required background investigation; current or recently lapsed VA Public Trust preferred).

Preferred Experience

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, focused on backend or API development.
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET, SQL Server, and RESTful API design.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and data integration patterns.
  • Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of API security standards and federal compliance requirements.
  • Exposure to VA or other large-scale government IT systems preferred.
  • Strong debugging, monitoring, and performance optimization skills.
