New York's energy system is undergoing a historic transformation driven by ambitious state policy goals, evolving market dynamics, and customer demand for clean energy. Over the next fifteen years, the state aims to electrify large portions of its economy while decarbonizing the power sector. Achieving these goals will require a modernized, policy-aligned transmission system capable of delivering clean energy reliably and equitably across the state. The New York Clean Energy Development team plays a pivotal role in this transition by advancing transmission infrastructure projects that align with state policy and regulatory objectives. We work closely with internal planning and regulatory teams, as well as external stakeholders, to identify, justify, and advocate for transmission investments that support clean energy delivery, grid reliability, and economic development. Our work includes: * The Upstate Upgrade - a $4 billion initiative to rebuild and modernize 1,000 miles of high-voltage transmission in Upstate New York by 2030, aligned with NYISO and state policy priorities. * Transportation Electrification - planning and policy engagement to support grid infrastructure for highway fast-charging and other high-impact EV corridors. * Grid Enhancing Technologies - the grid of the future will require enhanced technologies to safely and reliably operate the network and deliver power to our customers. The Senior Analyst - Commercial Development will focus on originating and advancing transmission-related investments that enable clean energy delivery and support state climate and reliability goals. This includes leading policy-aligned system studies, developing business cases, engaging in regulatory proceedings, and shaping transmission policy to unlock future infrastructure needs. Key Accountabilities
* Translate the commercial development vision into winning business strategies and viable projects in line with growth ambition. * Partner with the Clean Energy Business Development Directors, and external partners to pursue emerging infrastructure opportunities and partnerships that are in line with National Grid's strategic business objectives and value requirements. * Proactively model and analyze clean energy development opportunities, future technology, asset development strategies and other market opportunities. * Propose new operating models for the business, if necessary, to suit the opportunity adding detail as the discrete opportunity progresses. * Develop business cases to support the progress of new opportunities through company governance. * Manage internal and external stakeholders and assure buy-in to propositions. * Maintain work records: fact-based reports, feasibility reports, strategy papers, governance papers, stakeholder plans, work plans, risk, action & decision logs and maintain documentation control to assure audit trail and effectiveness of handover as opportunities evolve. Qualifications
* Experience with clean energy integration, interconnection policy, storage as a transmission asset or non-wires alternatives. * Familiarity with transmission cost allocation, rate recovery mechanisms, and public policy transmission planning. * Bachelor's or Master's degree in public policy, engineering, economics, or a related field. * A minimum of 3+ years' experience conducting new business development, commercial business or financial partnership activities involving engagement with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level. * Experience in the administration, analysis, development or monitoring of wholesale power markets in the northeast US, and regulatory recovery mechanisms for regulated utilities. * Understanding of technical, commercial, regulator, market and relationship management aspects of business development involving capital investment and issues affecting the utility industry.
