POSITION SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in MySQL, a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, data warehousing, and data architecture. This position requires a deep understanding of MySQL databases, along with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize for performance and scalability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, construct, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
  • Work closely with engineering managers, software engineers, and data science teams to design and implement data solutions and scalable infrastructure that enable analytics, machine learning, and AI-powered product features.
  • Develop and manage data pipelines to enable fast, reliable data flows for operational, reporting, analytics, machine learning, and AI-powered features.
  • Assist in optimizing and fine-tuning MySQL databases for optimal efficiency and performance.
  • Manage and enforce database schema, standards, and best practices.
  • Develop and implement procedures for effective data management, creating rules and procedures for data sharing.
  • Proactively identify issues with the databases or its related applications and work on its resolution.
  • Evaluate and select database components, database tools, and cloud database services.
  • Provide technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
  • Handle data-related security and ensure that all data complies with legal and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or related experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Extensive experience with MySQL or another RDBMS, including understanding of database engine internals (query execution, indexing, storage engines, transaction management), latest features, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with data architecture, data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and database development best practices.
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools.
  • Strong understanding of SQL and experience with other languages (GoLang, Python, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex data-related challenges.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and other database technologies.
  • Certifications in MySQL or other relevant technologies.
