Mott MacDonald is expanding its North American water practice and is seeking a Water Market Leader to grow our presence across the Northwest US - including Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Utah.



The role will be based primarily in Seattle, WA, with responsibility for supporting teams across all regional offices. This is a key leadership opportunity to build our market share, working closely with Water Market Leaders in the Southwest and Eastern US.



The successful candidate will be a visible internal and external ambassador, fostering a positive culture while driving strategic growth in water-related projects. They will collaborate closely with teams across water resources, dams, geotechnical, energy, and transportation.



We are seeking a leader with:




  • Strong leadership and program management experience
  • Proven business development success - client relationships, lead generation, and winning work
  • Ability to recruit and identify strong local seller/doers to grow our regional capability
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams, subconsultants, construction management, and planning staff



This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth and impact as we strengthen our regional water portfolio.

Responsibilities:





  • Develop and implement a strategic growth plan for the Northwest US water market in coordination with the North America Water Market Leader and existing practice leads.Lead client engagement and business development, including identifying opportunities, generating leads, and maintaining relationships with clients and regulators.


  • Mentor and grow a team of water professionals - providing guidance, development opportunities, and input on promotions, salaries, and training.


  • Manage and advise Discipline Leads, ensuring effective team structure, succession planning, and ongoing coaching.


  • Overseeproject delivery, ensuring initiatives and projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.


  • Identify and recruitlocal engineering talent, working with the Resource Manager and Talent Acquisition to plan resourcing, hiring, and longterm capability growth.


  • Foster acollaborative, innovative, and highperforming culture aligned with Mott MacDonald values.


  • Coordinate with Development, Strategic Market, Practice, and Account Leaders to ensure aconsistent and proactive approach to BD, pursuits, and client engagement across the Division.


  • Develop and execute strategies todrive growth, improve performance, and strengthen market presence.


  • Demonstrate strong leadership in upholdingethical standards, governance policies, and compliance with company procedures.


  • Providevisible, strategic leadership, supporting senior leadership with guidance, coaching, and informed decisionmaking.




Qualifications:





  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the water sector and broader A/E/C industry.


  • Active Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.


  • Bachelor's degree inengineering, business, marketing, science, or a related field.


  • Strong, established relationships withlocal and water and wastewater utilities


  • Proven track record working withcounties, municipalities, and public agencies across the Northwest US.


  • Deep local market knowledge with the ability to build and sustaintrusted longterm partnerships.


  • Demonstrated success inclient development, account management, and winning major infrastructure work.


  • Ability to convert strong client relationships into revenue growth.


  • Deep understanding ofwater, transportation, and infrastructure market dynamics.


  • Skilled instrategic planning, teaming, proposal strategy, and negotiation.


  • Experience supportingdatadriven business development, including use of CRM tools.Collaborative, positive, and motivating leadership style.


  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; able toinfluence at all levels.


  • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, identify improvements, and drive longterm strategic vision.


  • Proven ability to maintain strong working relationships with regional publicsector clients.

At Mott MacDonald, we provide a comprehensive benefit package that includes 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, short-term/long-term disability, paid holidays, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance.

The expected salary for this position is $200,000 - $265,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
