Creative Arts Therapist (Per Diem)

Positon will cover Queens and Nassau regions.

Work schedule: 1-2 nights per week from 4pm - 8pm.

MJHS is a large not-for-profit health system in the Greater New York area. Our range of health services include home care, hospice and palliative care for adults and children, rehabilitation and nursing care at Menorah and Isabella Centers, and the research based MJHS Institute for Innovation and Palliative Care. We also offer Elderplan/HomeFirst: health plans for Medicare and dual-eligible individuals. Our groundbreaking hospice and palliative care programs offer a significant difference when dealing with a life-limiting condition. We offer a broad range of services in the community or facility-based to help patients and their families ease the burden of managing a life-limiting illness or end of life care.

In this position you will utilizes creative arts therapy interventions specific to the discipline of music therapy in providing the clinical assessment and treatment of physical, psychosocial, and spiritual end-of-life issues for patients, caregivers, and bereaved persons of all ages in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan-of-care. You will participates in the clinical training and supervision of creative arts therapy interns; and supports special programming, research, education & marketing efforts to promote the organization's mission and growth.

  • Effectively accepts, triages, and follows-up on all referrals for creative arts therapy services
  • Follows professional and regulatory visit procedures for home and facility-based health care,
    including office-based counseling and groups
  • Provides a comprehensive clinical assessment at the initial visit, and updates accordingly
  • Executes a variety of appropriate creative arts therapy interventions to meet the client's needs
  • Provides clinical documentation according to agency guidelines and medical record standards
  • Promotes the mission and growth of the organization and the creative arts therapy program
  • NY-State licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT)
  • ATR-BC
  • Minimum of one year experience working as a creative arts therapist in either hospice, palliative care, or acute medical settings (academic internship placement hours may be considered as a portion of this experience).
  • Availability late afternoon/evening/weekends
