The purpose of this position is to service and repair golf course specialized equipment by performing inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment and vehicles, ordering parts, and adhering to the equipment maintenance program. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Maintains and repairs small engine equipment by checking for leaks (hydraulic oil, fuel, engine oi, water), tracking and changing fluid levels as needed, cleaning air filters, servicing batteries, inspecting fan belts, servicing tires and brakes, and rotating equipment.
  • Analyzes and diagnoses small engine problems and orders parts for repair such as air and fuel filters, spark plugs, sharpening chainsaw chains, and changing edger blades.
  • Maintains mowers by inspecting and servicing blades, replacing them as needed, grinding reels, backlapping reels, and changing the height on an as needed basis.
  • Maintains accurate records for all equipment maintenance and ensures equipment is insured by completing daily records of tasks performed and updating account program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in daily mowing and set-up operations.
  • Work weekend shift with maintenance staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Education and experience that provide the necessary knowledge and skills may also be considered, but a typical way to qualify is by obtaining:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of relevant experience.
Conditions of Employment
  • Safe driving record and Valid Texas Class C Driver's License or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
  • Equipment Management Certification Program (EMCP) Certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) year.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Clear criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
Hours/Work Schedule
  • This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits.
  • The anticipated work schedule for this position is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Thursday and one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
This role requires the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be provided in accordance with applicable laws. Typical physical requirements include:

  • Frequent physical activity such as walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, balancing, and climbing.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs routinely and up to 100 lbs occasionally; lifting 10-25 lbs frequently and up to 10-20 lbs continuously.
  • Pushing and pulling objects as required.
  • Moderate manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools and other equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wetness, and humidity.
  • Ability to work around mechanical, chemical, electrical, and fire hazards.
  • Ability to operate a City or personal vehicle for business purposes.


SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Knowledge of:

  • City rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Auto mechanics and the operation and repair of heavy and light
  • equipment, hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline and engines.
  • Wide variety of light and heavy motorized tools and vehicles including triplex mowers, rough mowers, walking greens mowers, fairway mowers, various tractors, cultural practice equipment such as aerifiers, top dressers, sweepers, spikers, rollers, as well as mowers, gators, weed eaters, aerators, chain saws, and golf carts.
Skill in:
  • Maintaining small light and heavy specialized equipment.
  • Trouble shooting and diagnosing small engines.
  • Using hand and power tools.
  • Following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Providing outstanding customer service.
  • Effectively communicating orally.
