Purpose of the Role
The Weld Management Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Worley's commitment to delivering sustainable change by ensuring that all materials, workmanship, welding activities, and construction processes meet project specifications, codes, and quality standards. This position helps uphold our reputation as a trusted partner by providing thorough inspection, documentation, and collaboration with project teams. The individual brings technical expertise and independent judgment to ensure that project outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Worley's sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections of materials, welds, equipment, and workmanship to verify conformance with project specifications, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage and monitor welding activities, including verification of welder qualifications, welding procedures, and weld quality to maintain compliance and reduce rework.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and project plans to ensure compliance and identify potential quality issues early in the process.

  • Document findings clearly and provide recommendations for corrective actions to maintain quality and project integrity.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, construction, and project management teams to support resolution of welding and other quality-related challenges.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending updates to inspection and weld management procedures, tools, and processes.

  • Support training and mentoring of junior inspectors or craft personnel, especially in welding best practices and quality requirements.

Qualifications / Skillset

  • Completion of a technical school program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated experience as a technician, craft professional, or inspector in energy, chemicals, or resources projects, with significant exposure to welding operations.

  • Strong understanding of welding codes, standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO), and best practices for weld inspection and quality assurance.

  • Skilled in weld mapping, weld traceability documentation, and interpretation of welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR).

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making in resolving quality and welding-related issues within established procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear inspection and weld management reports.

  • Commitment to safety, attention to detail, and alignment with Worley's goal of delivering sustainable, high-quality project outcomes.

  • Minimum 4 years industrial construction/maintenance industry experience
  • NCEER Certified Plus (Written or performance verified)
