What Rockwell Needs from You:

We are looking for a Production Supervisor in our Ladysmith, WI location who will be responsible for providing immediate supervision on 1st shift to a team of 40 to 60 employees.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for directing the development and implementation of production goals in safety, quality, customer delivery, and financial improvement. Developing capacity plans and output forecasts based upon complex customer demand trends and variable labor content per production order is critical to the role. Developing and executing resource planning in a high product mix, highly flexible and customized manufacturing process while selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production team is required.

This work consists of planning and administering operating policies, procedures, and practices that foster employee engagement in a continuous improvement driven work environment. This work requires attention to detail, managing multiple priorities and taking actions with minimal direction which may encompass but not limited to the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Direct supervision of 40 to 60 employees across multiple work shifts.
  • Maintain and enforce safe work practices.
  • Select and hire employees and provide on-going performance monitoring.
  • Establish and implement employee training and development programs and schedules.
  • Execute company policies and procedures with respect to disciplinary policies.
  • Perform resource planning requirements and scheduling of work hours and time off requests.
  • Receive predetermined assignments subject to a moderate level of control and review.
  • Communicate daily production requirements and set targets based upon capacity.
  • Plan and coordinate production order transitions between shifts and between manufacturing departments.
  • Communicate production order status and results at frequent intervals.
  • Accountable for safety, quality, customer delivery, and productivity improvement objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects, i.e. Kaizen events.
  • Understand and maintain complex manufacturing order management systems.

Leadership:

  • Facilitate manufacturing teams toward the achievement of business and customer objectives.
  • Coach and train teams in the philosophy of continuous improvement and waste reduction concepts.
  • Foster an environment that instills pride and ownership by all employees.
  • Evaluate employee performance on a continual basis and provide continuous performance feedback.
  • Develop a motivated employee base through rewards and recognition linked to accomplishments.
  • Provide leadership in the support of best practices and compliance to procedures and specifications.

Interpersonal:

  • Drive engagement and team work through clear communication of objectives.
  • Foster collaborative effort in problem solving that promotes engagement and ownership by all.
  • Maintain and enhance an environment of open and honest communication.
  • Maintain and enhance a culture of mutual respect and integrity at all levels of the organization.
  • Interact with internal support staff in communicating and resolving production issues.
  • Prepare and present operational metrics during regular order status reviews.

Business:

  • Calculate labor efficiency, utilization, and productivity.
  • Analyze manufacturing labor times for variance and overall reduction opportunities.
  • Analyze daily backlogs and calculate required capacity to manage order lead times.
  • Develop resource plans based upon individual work cell order demand rates.
  • Understand operating budgetary controls.
  • Utilize problem solving tools as part of Lean Six Sigma based continuous improvement philosophy.
  • Appropriately apply policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent professional experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in an electromechanical manufacturing and built-to-order environment.
  • Customer service or technical support involvement.
  • Experience and knowledge of SAP business system.
  • LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
