Position Overview:

Consulting Services Group (CSG) is hiring a Cultural Advisor with Russian language fluency to join our project team. The candidate will support a range of language-related tasks including translation of documents, transcription of audio/video materials, and interpretation as directed by the Program Manager and customer.

We require a native or heritage-speaking Russian linguist and cultural expert. The ideal candidate has experience living in Russia or other Russian-speaking countries in Eastern Europe and possesses an in-depth understanding of cultural differences, nuances, customs, symbolism, mannerisms, and traditions among the region's diverse ethnic groups. A fundamental understanding of neighboring countries and cultures with Russian-speaking populations in the broader European region is also expected.

The candidate will work with cross-functional teams to conduct research (classified and unclassified), evaluate and analyze findings, and provide recommendations that fuse multi-source products to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, assess, translate, and communicate complex issues clearly in both verbal and written formats.
    • Draft requirements documents, correspondence, and SOPs in accordance with local policies.
    • Explain complex technical procedures and processes to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Prepare and present briefings to military, government, and intelligence stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct open-source research and produce analysis (behavioral, social network, and foreign media) to identify trends, behaviors, and geopolitical events.
  • Identify information operations opportunities and provide predictive recommendations.
  • Evaluate classified and unclassified information to assess target audience behavior and trends.
  • Conduct research and fuse multi-source products into actionable recommendations.
  • Provide concurrent interpretation between Russian and English.
  • Produce transcriptions of Russian audio and spoken media.
  • Advise leadership on the cultural and ethnic context of translations and interpretations.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and briefings for military, government, and intelligence community stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • U.S. citizenship. Sponsorship for employment-based visas (e.g., H-1B, OPT, Green Card) is not available.
  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Native or heritage Russian speaker with highly developed English proficiency.
  • ILR 3/3/3 proficiency in reading, listening, and speaking (verified through testing).
  • Bachelor's degree, or 4+ years of directly comparable experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in cultural advising and linguistic support to government customers.
  • Ability to:
    • Read, write, and understand standard Russian grammar and style.
    • Communicate clearly in the Russian standard dialect.
    • Accurately interpret idiomatic expressions while preserving original meaning.

Preferred:

  • Experience living in Russia or Russian-speaking countries in Eastern Europe.
  • Strong active listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notes); advanced ability to organize and manipulate data in Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience assisting content developers with content generation.

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time, on-site position in San Antonio, TX.
  • Occasional short-term travel as required.
