DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive on-site surveys and evaluations of both public and private agencies that serve children and youth. Your role will involve assessing and analyzing data related to allegations of child abuse within these approved agencies, utilizing your expertise in protective service principles and established casework practices to ensure the safety of children placed outside their homes. You will perform evaluations and program achievement reviews from both a professional and administrative perspective, preparing and presenting the findings of these assessments.

Additionally, you will analyze data concerning contracts, plans, reimbursement requests, audits, and other financial documentation. Your expertise will also extend to providing guidance, consultation, and support to public and private child care agencies, ensuring compliance with state standards. Furthermore, you will engage with various stakeholders to advise on enhancing client services and offer educational consultation for programs related to children, youth, and families supported by the Department. You will play a key role in developing, recommending, and revising policies pertinent to the Children, Youth, and Families program, implementing departmental policies to achieve program objectives. Your responsibilities will include preparing detailed reports on evaluations, drafting correspondence, and producing both written and oral reports. You will also coordinate efforts with county agencies for statewide initiatives and oversee the implementation of court-ordered class lawsuits impacting public and private children and youth agencies. Lastly, you will review and provide recommendations on needs-based plans submitted by county agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience developing, implementing, or evaluating a human service program, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
