Job Description

We are currently hiring QA Lab and Brewing CO-OP in Boston, MA

This position is responsible for assisting the Brewing and Quality Laboratory teams in meeting the daily requirements of the Samuel Adam's R&D brewery and quality lab.

This position is shared between the brewing and quality lab teams. The responsibilities include daily analytical testing, brewing operations, and ensuring safe and sanitary working conditions at all times. Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks are essential.

This position reports to Quality Assurance Manager and has functional accountability to SABB Brewer.

This is a full-time position and the brewing team hours are 6:30am-2:30pm Monday through Friday. May require overtime as needed.

What you'll Brew

Quality



  • Cell counting and fermentation tracking
  • Pull daily samples
  • Chemical analysis on in-process beers and blended products, finished products, bottles and cans
  • Assist with data entry in QA databases
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and sanitation of lab
  • Review and understand SOPs
  • Participate in monthly GMP audits



Brewing:



  • Assist in daily brewery operations
  • Cleaning & sanitation of fermentation tanks
  • Maintain CIP/cleaning procedures for all process equipment
  • Collect and maintain all records for processing, CIP, cleaning and servicing of equipment
  • Fill kegs and maintain CIP and sanitation for the keg filler
  • Assist with canning line operations
  • Collect and compile data for projects



Shared Responsibilities:



  • Promotes high product quality achievement within a professional work environment
  • Understanding of and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and overall brewery sanitation and safety
  • Ability to be on your feet and in motion for a majority of the day
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs
  • Term project (design and complete) per review by QA Manager and Brewing Team
  • Other duties as required by brewery needs

Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be a student currently enrolled studying Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or brewing program
  • Must have previous co-op or coursework focused on wet lab skills
  • Must not require sponsorship to work in the United States, now or in the future
  • Must be able to commit to a 6-month Co-Op Cycle - January to July 2026
  • Must be able to commute daily to the Boston Brewery in Jamaica Plain, MA.
  • Ability to work in a flexible and changing schedule
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to be attentive to all aspects of the manufacturing environment while working
  • Is self-motivated, with a constant focus on raising the bar and a high sense of urgency
  • Identifies problems, evaluates several options and recommendations, and supports a solution
  • Ability to see the larger picture and keeps this in mind when making decisions
  • Professional attitude and demeanor, and follows up on commitments
  • Homebrewing experience a plus



In accordance with pay transparency laws the rate for this role if hired is $18 - $20 an hour.
