Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Special Projects Manager (Maintenance) to provide operational support across multiple maintenance facilities. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys solving challenges across diverse teams and locations. The Special Projects Manager will temporarily fill in for site-level managers, assist with special projects, and help standardize maintenance practices across the region.

*This position does require frequent travel

Job Responsibilities:

    Oversee daily maintenance operations at assigned locations, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to maintenance staff, including mechanics, technicians, and support personnel.
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to maximize fleet reliability and safety.
  • Support onboarding and training of new maintenance managers and staff.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure adherence to MV policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to identify operational gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Manage inventory, parts ordering, and vendor relationships as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Travel frequently to MV sites within the assigned region to provide coverage and support (approximately 85-90% travel required).


Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance management, preferably in transit or transportation.
  • Strong knowledge of gasoline engines, diesel and alternative fuel vehicle maintenance.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage operations across multiple locations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in maintenance software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 85-95% of the time.
  • ASE Certifications or equivalent technical credentials preferred.
  • Experience with DOT, FTA, and other regulatory compliance standards preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
