Overview The Data Center Critical Environment Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure within a data center. This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of systems such as power, cooling, and environmental controls, while leading a team of technicians and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision * Manage and mentor a team of technicians responsible for critical environment systems. * Develop shift schedules and delegate tasks to ensure 24/7 coverage and operational continuity. * Ensure compliance with training, safety, and operational standards. Operations & Maintenance * Oversee the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems. * Coordinate and execute routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. * Ensure minimal disruption during system changes or outages. Client & Vendor Coordination * Act as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and contractors working within the facility. * Ensure work quality and safety compliance during third-party activities. Infrastructure Planning & Support * Assist in planning and executing server installations, upgrades, and infrastructure changes. * Support disaster recovery testing and ensure readiness for emergency situations. Reporting & Documentation * Maintain accurate records of system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities. * Provide timely updates and reports to management and stakeholders. Technical Capabilities * Able to complete all tasks listed in the CE Tech Level 1 and Level 2 role descriptions. * Experience executing Method of Procedures (MOPs) for: * Chiller systems at "N" level redundancy. * Chilled water pumps at "N" level redundancy. * Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs) at "N" level redundancy. * Experience with Building Management Systems (EPMS). * Preferred: EPA Refrigerant License. * Required: * OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E Certification. * Experience with electrical systems in high-availability environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or similar. * High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. * 5+ years of work or applied learning experience in technical fields (e.g., automotive, electrical, controls, data center). * Ability to work flexible schedules including 12-hour shifts, rotating shifts, and varied work weeks. * Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word). Qualifications * Proven experience in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, hospitals, manufacturing). * Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. * Familiarity with systems such as HVAC, UPS, generators, and BMS. * Ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and respond to emergencies. * Preferred: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, IT, or a related field. Below is a breakdown of the needs: * General Specialty: Generators, chillers, batteries, etc. * Specific Equipment: Schneider UPS systems, lithium batteries, etc. * Required: Only the general specialty is mandatory; specific brand experience is a plus but not required. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
