Job Description

The Office of Investments at the University of Missouri System is responsible for the management of portfolios with total investment exposures exceeding $11 billion. The Manager, Investment Analytics, Operations and Reporting is responsible for managing all aspects of the Office of Investment's financial and business operations. The position will have significant interaction with investment team members, UM Controller's Office, the University's investment custodian and other third parties. Key skills for success include an understanding of accounting principles and procedures, the ability to think critically and analyze data, the ability to effectively communicate to internal and external parties, and a mastery of Microsoft Excel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

  • Manage all aspects of the relationship with the University's investment custodian, including oversight of all investment accounting, tax, and performance.
  • Perform audit oversight of accounting and performance data across the custodial platform, working directly with investment team and investment custodian to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports for the investment team, Investment Advisory Committee and Board of Curators.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for investment accounting and custodial systems. Stay up to date on the latest enhancements and offerings from our custodial bank. Lead implementation of new custodial offerings.
  • Collaborate with custodial bank and investment team for onboarding new investments into internal and external systems.
  • Work with internal and external counsel on contracts and amendments.
  • Manage cash flows across all portfolios. Objectives include, but are not limited to, daily cash reconciliations and ongoing cash flow forecasting.
  • Oversee activities related to investment management fees. Prepare reports for use by the investment team.
  • Serves as primary contact for the University's annual external audit and annual tax filings. Provide oversight for the collection of reporting and data to complete audit requests and the collection of K-1s for annual tax filings. Collaborate with Controller's office for all audit and tax work.
  • Act as primary contact for investment manager information requests including, but not limited to, taxation and regulatory requirements (i.e., international tax representations, anti-money laundering, self-certifications, etc.).
  • Complete necessary surveys.
  • Identify more efficient ways to accomplish existing tasks and recommend/implement changes and improvements.
  • Oversee and maintain physical and electronic filing systems for all related duties.

TRAVEL
Infrequent travel to conferences or meetings with custodial bank.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direction and oversight are received from the Managing Director.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Ability to research, analyze and communicate results of analysis both verbally and orally.
Strong critical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to solve complex, non-routine problems.
Mastery in Microsoft Office products Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Comfort with emerging technologies, including Microsoft CoPilot, with a willingness to integrate these tools into daily workflows.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties.
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economic, Finance or Business Administration or similar degree is required and a minimum of 5 years' experience in positions with similar types of tasks, responsibilities, or underlying skillsets.

Preferred Qualifications

Registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred and/or interest in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
