Job description:

1st Shift Material Handler
Schedule 3:00pm-11:30pm; OT will be required during peak season
The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and organization of materials and products within the facility. This role involves receiving, handling, and distributing raw materials, components, and finished products to support the manufacturing process. The Material Handler ensures that production areas are well-stocked, organized, and that materials are available when needed, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the plant.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Safely load, unload, and move materials, components, and finished products within the plant using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Ensure that production areas are adequately supplied with materials, such as fabric, poly, and other components required for cushion manufacturing. Transport materials to and from storage areas and production lines as needed.
  • Properly store materials, components, and finished products in designated locations.
  • Remove finished goods from production areas and stage them for shipping or storage.
  • Assist with packing, labeling, and preparing finished products for shipment.
  • Assist with other production tasks as needed to support overall production goals.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while handling materials and operating equipment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Other duties as requested, including general housekeeping of plant/warehouse.

Required Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate material handling, inventory management, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Good organizational skills to manage materials and maintain an orderly workspace.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, reporting to supervisors, and following instructions.
  • Capable of handling tasks efficiently in a fast-moving environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices related to manufacturing and warehouse operations.
  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (SAP, RF Scanners, etc.)

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, bend, twist, stoop, stand and walk for at least 3 hours at a stretch, over an 8 or 10-hour shift, with 15-minute breaks.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Previous experience with Warehouse Management Systems (SAP, RF Scanners, etc.)


Job Type: Full-time
POSITION INFORMATION
  • This position pays $15.80-$16.30 per hour depending on experience
