Waymo's Compute Team is tasked with a critical and exciting mission: We deliver the compute platform responsible for running the fully autonomous vehicle's software stack. To achieve our mission, we architect and create high-performance custom silicon; we develop system-level compute architectures that push the boundaries of performance, power, and latency; and we collaborate with many other teammates to ensure we design and improve hardware and software for maximum performance. We are a diverse team looking for curious and talented teammates to work on one of the world's highest performance automotive compute platforms.

In this hybrid role, you will report to the Head of Compute.

You will:


  • Lead a world-class, versatile silicon engineering team
  • Guide the end-to-end execution of complex silicon projects
  • Establish and refine the best design, verification, and physical design methodologies
  • Manage relationships and deliverables with important external partners
  • Oversee team budget, headcount planning, and resource allocation


You have:


  • Experience leading the end-to-end execution and delivery of complex, high-performance silicon
  • Experience building and scaling, diverse silicon teams
  • Deep technical expertise across the silicon development process to guide senior engineers and bring solutions to complex problems
  • Experience driving business and operational aspects of silicon execution, including budget ownership, partnerships, and escalations


We prefer:


  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, partnering with software, system, and architecture teams to agree on technical requirements and execution plans
  • Experience with the design of high-performance silicon for automotive applications
  • Direct experience with post-silicon activities, including ensuring high silicon quality and reliability
  • Familiarity with advanced packaging technologies
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams
  • Knowledge of functional safety (FuSa) principles and design processes

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
