Company Description

The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and services in a cost-effective and timely manner. This role ensures the best possible pricing, quality, and delivery performance to support production schedules and organizational goals. The Senior Buyer works closely with suppliers and internal teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain.

Job Description
  1. Assist with researching parts and obtaining quotations for materials and services as requested.
  2. Support the full procurement cycle for assigned items -from receipt of approved purchase requisitions to delivery, including handling returns when necessary.
  3. Create assigned purchase orders in Microsoft D365 ERP system, ensuring order confirmations are received within 48 hours and all order details are accurate.
  4. Track and monitor purchase orders for accurate delivery schedules, price changes and quantity updates, ensuring due dates and other relevant fields inD365are consistently updated to reflect the latest information.
  5. Identify and escalate any delays or discrepancies that could impact production timelines.
  6. Communicate proactively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
  7. Notify manager immediately of any production-impacting delays or critical changes.
  8. Coordinate with vendors and freight carriers to select appropriate shipping methods that ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  9. Investigate and assist in resolving discrepancies between purchase orders and received goods.
  10. Maintain accurate records of certification documents for incoming steel and rubber materials.
  11. Collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor and Material Coordinator to manage and maintain appropriate packaging material stock levels.
  12. Work with Inventory Control to reconcile Non-Conforming Material Reports weekly, submit Return Material Authorization (RMA) requests to suppliers, and coordinate the return or disposal of rejected materials.
  13. Build and maintain effective relationships with vendors to ensure timely fulfillment of material and service requirements.
  14. Assist Manager with monitoring weekly raw material requirements and orders, ensuring set stocking levels are in inventory and/or on order, while expediting or delaying supplier deliveries as needed.
  15. Assist in negotiations for annual raw material purchases, ensuring the best possible combination of price, quality, and delivery in accordance with company policies.
  16. Assist Inventory Control in receiving audit process.
  17. Generate and distribute quarterly supplier scorecard reports.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by the department.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in business or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. Prior purchasing experience is required.
  3. Experience with steel purchasing and processing is preferred.
  4. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  5. Experience working with ERP systems is preferred; familiarity with Microsoft D365 is a plus.
  6. Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly desirable.
