The WeCARE Psychologist supports the Medical Director in the implementation of standard operation policies and procedures to ensure that UBA WeCARE complies with all New York City's HRA contractual requirements.

A Psychological Assessment will be performed when a client disagrees with the Functional Capacity Outcome determination or when the Functional Capacity Outcome cannot be determined following the Clinical Assessment and possible mental health barriers to employment are present.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Act as clinical support for UBA WeCARE staff in the fulfillment of funder, (NYC HRA), contracted goals.
  • Conduct Psychological Assessment (virtual or in person)
  • Review prior WeCARE documentation, documentation provided by the client, prior and current Clinical Assessment/Clinical Reassessments, previous Psychological Assessments, and Substance Use Assessment (when indicated).
  • Obtain medical documentation from EPIC, PSYCKES, and Bronx RHIO.
  • Obtain a mental health history and substance use history.
  • Conduct a mental status examination.
  • Determine appropriate psychiatric diagnoses. Assess stability of client's mental health issues.
  • Reassess the need for any travel and reasonable accommodation and provide as needed.
  • Update the psychiatric limitations.
  • Assess potential eligibility for federal disability benefits using the SSA sequential evaluation process
  • Provide a written justification of the functional capacity outcome (FCO) with a summary of findings, medical history & documentation including supportive statements/evidence.
  • Enter information/complete Psych Assessment forms in HRA (funder) data base (SEAMS).
  • Complete off-line/paper Psychology Assessment forms when medical record system SEAMS, is not functioning completely or is partially working.
  • Scan or ensure all medical documents obtained or submitted are scanned into SEAMS : off-line MA within 24 hours. Medical documents within 24 hours.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all assigned support letters are edited/completed at least 2 days ahead of deadline for submission to the SSA.
  • Complete applicable forms and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Order a Medical Assessment for those clients that are being assessed with medical health problems and the stability thereof, appears different than that originally assessed in the current CA or CRA.
  • Participate in team meetings to evaluate and improve the WeCARE process
  • Handle psychiatric emergencies/urgencies among WeCARE clients in the office
  • Provide clinical oversight of Social Security Administration disability applications for WeCARE clients with a mental health focus for disability.
  • Provide quality mental history summary support letters for WeCARE clients applying for disability with the Social Security Administration
  • Perform cognitive testing screenings using abbreviated standard exams such as WASI-II and MOCA and generate written reports.
  • Retrieve medical documentation from electronic medical record systems such as EPIC, Bronx RHIO, and PSYCKES.
  • Participate in team meetings and case discussions to review and improve SSA applications.
  • Able to assist and motivate clients to comply with assessment and reassessment appointments. Able to assist clients with access services to reduce barriers to compliance with appointments.
  • Knowledge and ability to use various software systems including SEAMS, EPIC, etc., to document outreach, services, and activities in the client electronic recording.
  • Effective English communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Possess strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Licensed Psychologist in the state of New York with active registration. A minimum of 2 years' experience. Knowledge of medical and/or behavioral Health diagnoses required.

1-2 days remote, 3-4 days in office. Work week is M-F, no weekends or holidays, hours of operation is 8am-6pm, schedule would be within that time frame.
