The Security Administrator is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security threats and vulnerabilities to safeguard the organization's IT systems and data. This role involves identifying risks, ensuring compliance with security policies, and providing actionable insights to strengthen the organization's security posture.

Essential Functions

  • Threat Monitoring and Analysis: Continuously monitor IT systems and networks for suspicious activities using security tools such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) platforms. Analyze incidents to determine their impact and root causes.
  • Incident Response: Investigate and respond to security incidents, collaborating with internal teams to mitigate threats and prevent recurrence.
  • Vulnerability Management: Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate weaknesses in IT systems and applications.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational security policies, such as NIST, ISO 27001, or GDPR. Support audits and prepare reports as needed.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate risks associated with new technologies or processes and recommend security measures to mitigate them.
  • Awareness Training: Assist in developing and delivering training programs to educate staff on security best practices and phishing awareness.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain incident reports, risk assessments, and documentation of security controls and processes. * Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
  • Knowledge of tools such as firewalls, SIEM platforms, and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Certifications like CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP are a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Working Conditions

  • Location - This position will work out of our Burnsville, MN office.
  • Office environment - extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
  • Schedule: M-F, 8am -5pm
