ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT

Detectives / 185

Number of Vacancies: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Salary range: $133,836.00 to $150,768.00 annually

The Assistant Director of the Digital Forensics Center supports daily operations by managing the administrative, logistical, and training functions that keep the center running efficiently.

Key responsibilities include coordinating technology vendor contracts, maintaining software licensing and forensic tool inventories, and supporting strategic goals through organized planning and documentation.

The Assistant Director develops and manages the center's budget, assists with procurement planning, and ensures resources are allocated effectively.

This role also manages the scheduling and coordination of internal and vendor-led training and conducts research to stay current with trends in digital forensics.

In addition to these core functions, the Assistant Director provides day-to-day oversight and support to a team of civilian analysts, ensuring operational needs are met and staff are aligned with the center's mission.

Additional duties may be required for this position.

LOCATION: Chicago Police Department - Digital Forensics Center

BUREAU: Detectives / 185

ADDRESS: 2452 W Belmont Ave

DAYS: Monday through Friday

HOURS: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Nine (9) years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

* Graduation from an accredited college with an associate's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including seven (7) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree or higher in a field related to the duties performed, including four (4) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.

NOTE: A copy of your official transcripts will be required, if applicable.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to successfully complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.

*Successful candidates must pass a drug screen and a background investigation. People that are offered employment must pass all pre-employment exams prior to appointment.
