JOB ANNOUNCEMENT COORDINATOR OF MAINTENANCE REPAIRS CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION Bureau of Facilities Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $63,504.00/year Applications for this position will be accepted from 9/12/25, until 11:59pm CDT on 9/26/25 The Chicago Department of Aviation is seeking a Coordinator of Maintenance Repairs to coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance and repair activities for departmental buildings and facilities including terminals and surrounding grounds at city airports, and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Turn work requests into work orders by estimating completion time and the appropriate trades/contractors needed to complete the work. * Inspect, oversee, and coordinate maintenance/repair projects with CDA Skilled Trades/term contractors for departmental buildings and facilities including terminals and surrounding airport grounds. * Monitor the quality of repair and maintenance work completed to ensure quality of workmanship and compliance with industry standards. * Follow up on open work orders and close out as work is completed. * Inventory and tag new equipment, entering it into the Preventive Maintenance Program. * Create status reports. * Confers with foremen of various skilled trades to review projected timetables * Performs other job related duties as required Additional duties may be required for this position Location: Heating and Refrigeration Plant-Building 450 Days: Monday through Friday Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications
* Three (3) years of work experience as a building maintenance engineer or facilities coordinator; OR * Three (3) years of skilled trades maintenance and repair work experience; OR * Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree or higher PLUS one (1) year of work experience as a building maintenance engineer or facilities coordinator; OR * Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree or higher PLUS one (1) year of skilled trades maintenance and repair work experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to stand and walk for extended or continuous periods of time
