Job Summary Information Technology Services at MCCCD is seeking an elite Cybersecurity Engineer to elevate Maricopa's security posture and protect mission-critical systems. Reporting to the Director of Security Operations, you'll be the technical powerhouse driving security innovation across enterprise, cloud, and hybrid environments. In this role, you'll leverage cutting-edge tools-EDR platforms, next-generation firewalls, and SIEM/SOAR solutions-to lead proactive threat hunting, rapid incident response, and deep forensic investigations. Your expertise in vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and business continuity will be pivotal in building resilient, future-proof architectures in AWS, Azure, and GCP. This is more than a security role-it's a chance to lead engineering initiatives, influence enterprise security strategy, and work on complex, high-impact challenges that protect critical assets and ensure seamless operations. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, information security, computer science, cybersecurity, network security, or a related field and five (5) years of technical experience in the support of networks, systems and technology security. OR Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or directly related field and two (2) years of technical experience planning and overseeing information technology initiatives such as data security, systems development or network design and related technologies such as intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanning systems, authentication systems, operating systems and security tools. OR An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certifications sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Technical certifications may be used towards the substitution of the above-mentioned requirements for education and/or experience. Substitution amounts for certifications are based on the duration of time it takes to obtain the certification, the difficulty to obtain the certification, and/or the desirability of the certification as related to the business needs of the assignment. Special Working Conditions There is a mandatory minimum in-office expectation, currently two days onsite, in which the District reserves the right to update at any time. The selected candidate will need to reside in the Phoenix area or relocate within six months of hire. This role may involve after hours work and non-regular business hours. May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor. ITS does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.
