The Metallurgical Lab Supervisor will utilize advanced knowledge in metallography / materials testing to direct the activities of lab personnel effectively to support internal Chromalloy testing and certification needs for incoming materials and products. Products primarily include coated nickel-based turbine blades. Also provide direct support to customers as applicable and will be responsible for the maintenance of 17025 and Nadcap certification for the lab.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage and develop a team of direct reports while creating a knowledge sharing culture
  • Coordinate and support daily activities including lab samples, material inspection and release, and alloy master heat certifications and releases
  • Ensure that procedures are in place to support our objectives and assure first-class customer response and departmental efficiency
  • Ensure that product and applications knowledge is communicated within the organization
  • Provide input for new products introduction, coordinate testing of new products internally and externally, and participate in launch activities
  • Continuous focus on how to develop the business to meet customer requirements and expectations
  • Actively contributes to the development of best practices and new applications services within the organization
  • Actively support Sales efforts by providing internal and external customer support
  • Implement and create lab GSPs
  • Ensure compliance with ISO17025 standards
  • 30% travel to Chromalloy sites


Education & Experience:



  • BS in Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 2+ years' experience in metallographic / materials testing laboratory required.
  • ICP/EDS analysis skills
  • Experience with Thermal Barrier Coatings and Vapor Phase Aluminide Coatings
  • Understanding/experience with ISO17025 requirements
  • Proven leadership skills and a business-minded with an understanding of the importance of applications support
  • Global-focused team player with the ability to contribute and interact with colleagues all over the world
  • Structured and analytical approach to tasks and problem solving with adequate detail orientation
  • Outgoing and collaborative professional with strong communication skills, organized focus on priority tasks, and proven ability to deliver sales-driven technical presentations.
