*Job Description:* We are seeking a Coding Specialist II to support automation initiatives within our Business Office. This contract role will last 6-9 months, with the possibility of extension based on business needs. The specialist will review inpatient and outpatient medical records, assign codes with precision, and ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines and payer regulations. Remote but must live in the Des Moines, IA metro area.
*Daily Responsibilities:* * Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes to the highest level of specificity * Apply modifiers, CCI edits, LCD/NCD rules, and payer-specific policies * Resolve coding issues using EPIC Charge Review Work Queue * Collaborate with Clinical Auditors and providers for documentation improvement * Maintain HIPAA compliance and secure PHI * Research and resolve coding-related denials * Perform charge entry and code complex procedural cases * Meet productivity and quality standards (95%) * Participate in meetings and contribute to team goals *Qualifications:* * High School Diploma or GED * Completion of a nationally recognized coding program (AHIMA/AAPC) * RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC certification *(required)* * Minimum 3 years of professional medical coding experience * EPIC system experience *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
