Description

As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible forpositioning, transferring and transporting patients to and from various departments or locations by wheelchair, bed, or gurney. You may also perform teaching and training functions, dispatching function, and limited clerical duties for the transport function. Other role requirements include:




  • Equipment maintenance and cleaning or disinfection
  • Deliver and pick-up specimens, blood, medical equipment, medical records, medications, and various other items
  • Transport deceased patients to the morgue



Salary Range: $22.18- $29.24Hourly

Work schedule will be determined by management.



Effective 06/22/2025, employees represented by the
AFSCME Union will receive a minimum wage of $25. In accordance with this
agreement, as the offer amount outlined in this letter falls below the minimum
salary required, we will provide a supplementary amount to ensure compliance.
The total compensation package, including this supplement, will meet the
minimum salary standard.

Qualifications

Required:



  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact diplomatically and sensitively with acutely ill patients.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills to perform data entry and to obtain information from Hospital Systems utilizing a personal computer.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift a minimum of 150 pounds.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques sustaining a safe work environment for self and co-workers.
  • Skilled in English language in both written and verbal format.
  • Good comprehension of written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to strictly obey healthcare regulations for Infection Control, and follow UCLA Policies and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.



Preferred:


  • Acute care hospital experience.
  • Knowledge of patient care in a hospital setting.
  • Transport and/or lift team experience.
