The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Post Doctoral Fellow.

What You'll Do

* Conduct primary laboratory research.
* Mentoring/supervising junior lab members.
* Maintaining mammalian cell cultures.
* Live-cell fluorescence microscopy.
* Data analysis
* Manuscript writing.
* Molecular biology (cloning and PCR)
* Protein purification/ reconstitution
* Working both independently and as a team member

Qualifications
  • PhD degree in biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology, neuroscience, or related field
  • Experience involving substantial wet-lab experience working with protein purification/reconstitution and/or mammalian cell culture with live-cell fluorescence imaging.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with induced pluripotent stem cells would be a major asset.
  • Experience with experimental design, data analysis, critical thinking, and manuscript writing/preparation.
    Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, fluorescence microscopy and mammalian cell culture, including iPSC culture.
  • Individuals with bioinformatic skills and working with large genomic, proteomic, transcriptomic datasets would also be an asset.
