Investigators at the FDNY World Trade Center Health Program include multidisciplinary team of physicians, epidemiologists, and biostatisticians. The primary goal of our work is to monitor the health of over 15,000 firefighters and emergency medical service personnel post-exposure to the World Trade Center disaster. The biostatistician will work on new and ongoing physical and mental health research projects leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals. This is an intellectually stimulating position for a creative thinker and hard worker using large longitudinal data sets. Duties will include but are not limited to: * Conducting independent and collaborative analyses of longitudinal survey data and other FDNY health data using SAS, R and related programs * Participating in the design and implementation of new research studies * Assisting with preparation of abstracts, manuscripts and grants based on analyses * Opportunities to present data and results at internal meetings and external conferences * Translating questions from physicians and funders into research hypotheses using appropriate analytic methods Required Skills: * Experience conducting analyses using SAS and related tools * Master's degree in epidemiology/biostatistics or currently working toward a doctoral degree in either discipline * Excellent problem solving, analytical, writing and communication skills * Ability to work in a team and independently, as required Preferred Skills: * Two or more years of work experience in an academic or public health/research setting * Ability to multitask across several projects * Experience with grant writing and/or peer reviewed publications * Experience with reporting or data visualization a plus *This position is permanently funded and not dependent on grants* Location: Fire Department of the City of New York, 300 Cadman Plaza West, One Pierrepont Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11201 Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
