Position: Research Coordinator, General Internal Medicine

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: Per Diem, Hybrid (On-site 1 day per week)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The IMPACT Study is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of research-related activities including organizing study materials, collaborating with research participants throughout the study, and performing general administrative duties, training/supervising research staff and data collection/data entry/analysis.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience and enhance your skills in clinical research. Our main project, IMPACT, is a pragmatic clinical trial that investigates a clinical pain management program based on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and utilizes machine learning. The IMPACT study is located in the Crosstown Building at 801 Massachusetts Avenue.

JOB ESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Support:


  • Collaborates with the team to research essential resources that support the facilitation of the simulation protocol.
  • Assists with screening, obtaining consent, and following up with participants.
  • Provides remotely and/or in-person technical support for participants, including setup of Fitbits, phones, and tablets.
  • Assists the team in mailing packages to subjects, which may require going to the office once or twice a week.
  • Offers support during mindfulness meditation sessions.
  • Schedules participant appointments and conducts reminder phone calls. Also schedules and conducts interviews with participants over the phone.
  • Completes and reviews data collection forms for each participant to ensure accuracy and quality, and may help with data analysis.
  • Manage day-to-day operation and overall coordination of the study.
  • Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Natalia Morone, monitors and modifies program procedures and policies to ensure compliance with all government regulations, as well as maintaining alignment with the organization's mission.
  • Monitoring/reporting of significant adverse events.
  • Participates and may lead weekly staff meetings and any other meetings that may be needed throughout the course of the study.

Management:


  • Oversees study staff (which may include students and student workers).
  • Provides necessary ongoing training and technical support to ensure the project is being completed in a safe, professional, and productive manner.
  • Assists in the recruitment, hiring (budget approved at the Director level), training, supervision, coordination and performance of staff as well as overall staff performance.

Administrative:


  • Develops procedures to ensure timely and accurate data collection.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Purchases products as needed within the established budget.
  • Schedules meetings, coordinates audio-visual and technology requirements, orders food/beverages, etc., as needed.
  • Ensures clear communication and compliance.

OTHER DUTIES:


  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Conduct literature searches, maintain EndNote/Zotero libraries, and assist with manuscript and presentation preparation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree required. A Master's Degree in Public Health preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' clinical research, public health experience or other relevant experience. (May consider 3 years of experience for candidates with a Master's degree )

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Knowledge of social/behavioral science research methods & principles. Knowledge of program evaluation is helpful.
  • Ability to be self-directed, prioritize essential tasks and balance numerous responsibilities.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including and ability to work with individuals from a variety of disciplines, and on a variety of levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.

This position is funded by a 3-year grant. There may be opportunity beyond this grant funding for position integration into ongoing operations.
