Office of Student Financial Assistance:

The Office of Student Financial Assistance, a unit within Student Success and Well-Being (SSWB), is dedicated to supporting UCF's mission and goals through the efficient delivery of student aid. The Office provides UCF students with a comprehensive offering of financial assistance options to support student success and the attainment of a university degree.

The Opportunity:

UCF's Office of Student Financial Assistance is currently accepting applications for a Financial Coordinator I. This position is tasked with overseeing the Transient Enrollment process, FLVC/Florida Shines system processing, and the coordination and compliance of Study Abroad/Exchange programs. The Coordinator is also responsible for budget adjustments and awarding of aid for transient students, as well as students enrolled in study abroad and exchange programs.

This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Sr. Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or his/her designee.

Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for reviewing and completing Transient Enrollment processes, FLVC/Florida Shines system processing, and the coordination and compliance of Study Abroad/Exchange programs.

  • Responsible for the COA/budget adjustments and awarding of aid for transient and study abroad student according to federal, state, and institutional regulations/policies.

  • Understand, interpret, and effectively apply federal regulations regarding administration of federal student financial aid programs.

  • Follow established fiscal budget limits for financial aid award programs to prevent overspending.

  • Efficiently organize, make decisions, prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and as a team player, within a highly computerized environment and with frequent daily interruptions.

  • Maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs.

  • Advise and counsel students and parents regarding the financial aid process.

  • Analyze and evaluate students' financial needs.

  • Advise on the availability and sources of financial assistance including PELL Grant, Campus-based aid, Stafford Loan, scholarships, and other programs.

  • Explain to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs.

  • Attend professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to ensure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.

  • Provide training for areas of responsibility, as well as feedback on ways to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Assist with special projects and/or programs as needed.

  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working in administrative or student-facing roles within higher education or similar environments.

  • Skilled in providing guidance and advising students on financial processes.

  • Possess an understanding of basic financial aid program requirements and processes.

  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on communication, problem-solving, and positive experiences.

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for data entry, organization, and reporting.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships across teams and levels.

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at all levels, including faculty, staff, and students.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess situations, evaluate alternatives, and apply logic to develop thoughtful, effective solutions.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including accurate and efficient typing skills.




Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is $17.64 - $19.16 The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
