The Position
The Opportunity
Genentech's Ophthalmology and Immunology (OPTI) Department is seeking a translational scientist to lead a research group focused on age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The successful candidate will provide scientific leadership to advance our understanding of disease pathogenesis with a focus on targetable biology and the translation of these insights into transformative therapies. Prior demonstrable leadership and expertise in retinal immune mechanisms and inflammatory pathways will be strongly preferred. This role represents a unique opportunity to build on the Ophthalmology research at Genentech and drive innovation especially at the intersection of immunology, neuroinflammation, and vision science. As Group Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of scientists, guiding research strategy, and fostering collaborations across Genentech's discovery, development, and translational ecosystems. You will also represent Genentech externally as a thought leader. Key Responsibilities:
Relocation benefits are available for this job posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $143,200 to $265,900. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
