The Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you will serve as a key corporate senior accountant, leveraging your talents to make an impact and grow.

Key activities include:

  • Key Senior Accounting duties:
    • Capital Project Accounting and fixed asset management
    • Lease account
    • Property Tax accounting
    • Run month end accruals and forecasting
  • Prepare and post SAP journal entries throughout the month for several business processes.
  • Ensure that journal entries are properly coded and evidenced by supporting documentation.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for business processes outlined. Ensure transactions that comprise balances are clearly identified and supported; monthly activity is identified and is appropriate given the nature of the account.
  • Collaborate with Accounting Director and Staff to provide high-level explanations on financial statement variances for the current month, and current quarter, where applicable.
  • Maintain compliance with SOX and provide assistance with internal and external audit requests.
  • Prepare various ad hoc reports as requested in support of NW Retail operations.
  • Lead and assist with various ongoing projects as necessary.
  • Provide schedules to the external auditors as requested.
  • Lead budget process and stewardship

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

Additional qualifications include:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
  • At least five years of relevant progressive accounting experience in the month-end close process.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP and advanced formulas. Experience using Power BI or advanced analytics tools a plus
  • A proactive attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization in verbal and written form
  • Ability to develop relationships with business partners to best support the business
  • The ability to work the necessary hours to accomplish assigned tasks, especially during month- and quarter-end close process
  • This is an in-office position in Billings, Montana

Preferred:

  • SAP experience
  • PDI experience
  • Oil & Gas or Retail industry experience.
