The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Facilities Maintenance Technician II to support Facilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) our government customer located in NORCO, CA.
This individual is responsible for assisting in performing general maintenance and repairs on facilities equipment and systems under the direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance technician IV or other Lead Technician. These systems can include plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, space planning and furniture moves and other building related systems.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists other trades inspecting and identifying facility related equipment or machines in need of repair.
Assists in troubleshoots minor facility related issues to determine necessary repairs.
Performs entry to mid-level maintenance and repairs that do not require a specialized technician and must be under the direct supervision of a more senior technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, repairing lighting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
Assists other trades in performing routine maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems.
Assists other trades in performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities systems such as filter replacement, belt replacement, basic pump repairs, inspections etc., as required.
Assists in completion of facilities related projects and equipment and system repairs as required.
Assists the Facility Maintenance Technician IV or other trade leads in planning and executing all required space/furniture moves and relocations.
Assists with finishing concrete masonry, and grouting.
Assists with performing all grounds-keeping functions such as mowing & trimming grass, edging, pruning hedges and trees.
Required to operate equipment such as riding mowers, weed-eaters, pole trimmers and chain saws.
Required to operate all types of power and hand woodworking tools, paint sprayers, concrete mixers, and forklifts.
Assists with maintaining equipment, tools, property and materials, and assure that they are properly maintained and safeguarded.
Respond to all types of emergency situations, water, electrical, wind, storm, etc.
Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities and grounds.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
One (1) years' experience in facility maintenance.
Has demonstrated knowledge in the use of hand and power tools.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be available and able to respond to emergency call-ins when required.
Must pass an annual "Fit for Duty" physical and meet all the necessary medical requirements to wear all types of respirators and perform the physical requirements of the job.
Must pass the required respirator fit test and maintain the requirement.
Must be physically able to climb all types of ladders, a-frame, vertical, extension etc.
Must be physically able to climb up on and maneuver on raised walkways and platforms with limited access.
Must be able to work in various types of confined spaces.
Must be physically able to move 55-gallon drums with the assistance of mechanical means.
May be assigned other collateral duties as required.
ENVIROMENTAL FACTORS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Environmental Factors: Works in indoor and outdoor environments that contain excessive heat, cold and humidity, excessive dampness, electrical energy, dust, fumes, solvents grease, oils, moving machinery with moving parts, moving object or vehicles and slippery or uneven surfaces.
Physical Effort: Works from ground level, ladders, and platforms on equipment and systems where parts are hard-to-reach. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally over fifty pounds. Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and stretching for prolonged periods will be necessary.
