The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Electrician III to support Facilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) our government customer located in NORCO, CA.

The candidate is responsible for providing support for the daily maintenance operations of Electrical requirements supporting all systems and government property.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform Daily Operational Checks of all electrical equipment.

  • Report all safety related concerns immediately to the Safety Specialist in writing.

  • Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills for the following equipment types:

    • VFD's

    • AHU's

    • Motors

    • ATS's

    • UPS's

    • Industrial lighting systems

    • Low voltage lighting Systems

  • Maintains, repairs, installs, modifies, troubleshoots, loads, and tests new and installed electrical equipment and components including secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switch gear, power and control circuits, motors, multi-phase alternating current circuits, low voltage wiring systems for industrial complexes and buildings, high intensity lighting systems, and related equipment.

  • Monitor all inspection and electrical testing equipment and PPE to ensure current certifications and calibrations are current. Make recommendations to Safety Specialist when calibrations are needed and required by the manufacturer.

  • Write up electrical evaluations and assessments as required.

  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, control diagrams, logic diagrams and specifications and creating red lines as required.

  • Designs, installs, determines the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuit systems, equipment, and controls.

  • Performs standard calculations/computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment and systems.

  • Inspect and maintain all required electrical PPE daily. Report all discrepancies to Safety Specialist immediately in writing.

  • Identify unsafe working conditions and work practices and report to Safety Specialist immediately in writing.

  • Assist in completion of facilities related projects and equipment and system repairs as required.

  • Assist in installation of new equipment and systems as required.

  • Assist in completion of facilities related projects and equipment and system repairs as required.

  • Assist in general cleaning of mechanical spaces and equipment required and as requested by management.

  • Perform infrared surveys/scans of all electrical panels, switchboards, MCC panels, transformers, bus ducts, FVD's and other related control panels and electrical equipment within the facility as outlined in the Master Preventive Maintenance Plan and Schedule.

  • Inspect and maintain all electrical distribution switchgear, electrical panels, transformers, bus duct and all other associated electrical equipment within the facility.

  • Establish and document a formal inventory system for all lamps and lighting related spare parts.

  • Highly skilled in the use of hand/power tools and test equipment commonly used in the construction and electrical trades.

  • Keeps Lead Technicians and Facilities Supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.

  • Ensure proper housekeeping practices are strictly observed.

  • Assists other trades as required to accomplish maintenance activities.

  • Respond to all types of emergency situations, water, electrical, wind, storm etc.

  • Utilize Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.

  • Assist in performing monthly safety inspections as required.

  • Complete required monthly safety and equipment training.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • OSHA 10 certification (Preferred)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years' experience within the electrical trades.

  • Thorough knowledge and working understanding of the NEC, 70E and their requirements.

  • Thorough knowledge and working understanding of high and low voltage electrical systems.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years' experience within the electrical trades.

  • Desired experience with various Building Automation Systems and industrial controls.

  • Experience working in and around laboratory environments, fume hoods, lab benches etc.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available and able to respond to emergency call-ins when required.

  • Must pass an annual "Fit for Duty" physical and meet all the necessary medical requirements to wear all types of respirators and perform the physical requirements of the job.

  • Must pass the required respirator fit test and maintain the requirement.

  • Must be physically able to climb all types of ladders, a-frame, vertical, extension etc.

  • Must be physically able to climb up on and maneuver on raised walkways and platforms with limited access.

  • Must be able to work in various types of confined spaces.

  • May be assigned other collateral duties as required.

ENVIROMENTAL FACTORS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Environmental Factors: Works in indoor and outdoor environments that contain excessive heat, cold and humidity, excessive dampness, electrical energy, dust, fumes, solvents grease, oils, moving machinery with moving parts, moving object or vehicles and slippery or uneven surfaces.

  • Physical Effort: Works from ground level, ladders, and platforms on equipment and systems where parts are hard-to-reach. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally over fifty pounds. Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and stretching for prolonged periods will be necessary.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
