The Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic I performs maintenance, installation and repair work on mechanical systems, equipment and components. May work within confined spaces and in awkward positions. Works at heights of up to 30 feet above surface using ladders, lifts and equipment. Work is performed under general supervision and using the tools and techniques of mechanical technology.This can include pumps, motors, exhaust fans, air handlers, and bearings. The incumbent will use all types of tools and equipment normally used in the mechanical trade, including metal lathes, and powered portable, bench and hand tools (such as drills, grinders, compressed air), as well as non-powered hand tools.

Hours: Full time (40 hours), Rotating Shift, Weekend work required

Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD 21287

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship Program which is approved/accepted by local or state government.
  • Johns Hopkins Hospital Certification
  • 5 years related work experience. The full-time equivalent spent in an approved program may count toward the 5-year work experience requirement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of electrical techniques, codes, procedures and materials.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards.
  • Performs work within reasonable lengths of time as measured against trade, industry or engineered standards.
