Job Description

Position: Senior Process Engineer

Primary Location: Tulsa, OK

Reports to: Plant Technology Manager

Compensation: $120-130,000.00 + bonus + benefits. (salaried, exempt)

The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. Actual pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. Specific salary details can be discussed during the hiring process. Posted compensation reflects base salary only and excludes bonuses, benefits, pension contributions, and other incentives.

About This Role and You

The Senior Quality Process Engineer at our Tulsa, OK UltraPure Sulfuric Acid production facility is a key partner in a high performing team, meeting the needs for specialty materials supporting the rapidly growing semiconductor manufacturing industry anticipated to have dynamic growth over the next decade.

They will drive engineering excellence, process innovation, and operational optimization to support quality, safety, and sustainability goals at our UltraPure Sulfuric Acid production facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This position will implement plant capital projects as directed including establishment of project scope, development of AFEs, procurement of materials and project management. This individual will work with management in the formulation of capital program.

Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering degree from an accredited university
  • 7 years of experience in process engineering and design
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time mostly in the United States, but could include Canada
  • Proficiency in Process design, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Familiarity with OSHA PSM to guide and initiate/monitor/audit site safety in a chemical process environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee health and safety
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with sulfuric acid specialty materials, pharmaceuticals, or semiconductor or materials science industries is desired

Responsibilities

Process Development & Improvement

  • Develop and implement process design improvements, advanced control strategies, and troubleshooting solutions for continuous and batch production systems.
  • Lead technology transfer, equipment selection, capacity expansion, and modernization projects.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical process control methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

Product Quality and Performance Optimization

  • Analyze plant performance data to identify inefficiencies and recommend actionable solutions that enhance yield, purity, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Observe operations to identify improvement opportunities, prepare technical reports, and recommend modifications.
  • Lead development of FMEAs, Control plans, and out of control action plans to support process control system continuous improvement.

Compliance & Safety Leadership

  • Act as plant coordinator for the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, including HAZOPs, Management of Change (MOC), and related safety processes.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation, conduct process safety reviews, and ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute change control documents and plans.

Technical Support & Mentorship

  • Provide guidance to resolve technical issues and assist in meeting departmental performance goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers, deliver technical training, and support talent development initiatives.
  • Maintain engineering office records, procedures, plant drawings, vendor files, and information retrieval systems to ensure engineering services and facilities are accessible to plant personnel and external stakeholders.

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with Chemtrade Environmental, Health& Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report all EH&S incidents (injuries, near misses, releases).
  • Complete all required EH&S training in a timely fashion.
  • Follow all Chemtrade facility and corporate EH&S procedures and practices.
  • Attend and actively participate in facility EH&S meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for EH&S program improvement
  • Participate in job safety analysis activities.
