The College of Agriculture, Life & Veterinary Sciences & Cooperative Extension (ALVSCE) is accepting applications for an Administrative Operations Professional III, Business Manager. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the combined Business Office Team 3 serving the School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences (ACBS), Norton School of Human Ecology (HECL), Agricultural Education, Technology & Innovation (AETI) and CALES Support Units.
The Business Manager develops and establishes procedures for the daily financial operations of the Business Office, according to policies and procedures established by the University and the Division of Agriculture, Life and Veterinary Sciences & Cooperative Extension (ALVSCE). The Business Manager controls and manages proper accounting of all departmental operational budgets, advises faculty and staff on financial matters, and serves as facilitator for Human Resources requests. This position reports to two Managers, Finance and Administration for Team 3, and will have areas of financial responsibility where independent decision making and judgment will be required to manage business center operations. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Support, supervise, coordinate and train the Finance and Operation Professionals on the team, being the direct line of communication for business operations and professional development.
- Establish efficient business practices and keep up to date with policies, regulations, and procedures. Update business practices to meet evolving operating environment and needs.
- Works closely with both Managers, Finance and Administration on departmental planning; provides input and ideas to further future departmental growth and deliver on mission.
- Oversee and coordinate processes for sponsored awards; supervise the preparation of monthly faculty financial reports; coordinate outgoing subawards; monitor and coordinate rate studies to ensure effective departmental operations.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits for the department; lead analysis and planning for business office needs, including capital equipment, improvements, supplies, and services, ensuring actions align with established budgets; serve as department representative at meetings and conferences throughout the University.
- Serve proactively as a consultative resource to assigned units; develop and implement strategies to ensure operational compliance, enhance administrative efficiency, and support informed decision making.
- Develops relationships with other Units and Central offices; communicates effectively to resolve problems arise within assigned units.
- Work with Business Offices at ALVSCE Experiment Stations and County offices to ensure support for faculty/staff stationed at these locations.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Demonstrated experience leading a team and coaching members to success through skill development, performance goals and corrective coaching as required.
- Experience and knowledge with UA Systems/Applications.
