Job Description:

The Network Engineer I will be a critical contributor within the IT team, reporting to the Network Operations Manager, Terminal Division, and working under the broader direction of the VP of Network Operations. This role focuses on the deployment, support, and lifecycle management of Cisco-based enterprise networks across our Retail and Terminal environments, with a strong emphasis on network security and operational technology (OT) controls in our Terminal environments.

"Gauges" of Responsibility

  • Assist in the engineering, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise IP networks including LAN, WAN, wireless, and VoIP systems. Technologies include Cisco Meraki, IOS-based switches and routers (ISR/ASR), BGP, SIP, VPNs, DMVPN, Firewalls, WLCs, wireless access points, and 4G/5G modems (including Starlink).

  • Support the implementation and modification of network designs to meet business objectives and compliance standards (CIS, PCI, SOX).

  • Perform hands-on configuration and support of routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, and firewall solutions.

  • Monitor network traffic, utilization, port status, and wireless usage; recommend optimizations or upgrades based on observed trends.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to support network requirements for strategic business applications and security controls (e.g., firewall rules, port security, TALOS intelligence).

  • Provide second-level support for end-user connectivity issues through the service desk or direct field engagement.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies relevant to enterprise and OT network environments.

  • Support deployment and management of Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FMC/FTD), Cisco ISE, 802.1X, and related port security frameworks.

  • Assist in documentation, reporting, and lifecycle tracking of network infrastructure assets.

  • Uphold a professional, team-oriented, customer-focused approach at all times.

  • Follow all company policies, including the Code of Business Conduct, Ethics Policy, and Electronic Systems Policy.

  • Ability to travel 15% - 25% of the time mostly within the New England area but may infrequently include other regions in the United States.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate - CCNA is highly desirable

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional - CCNP is desirable

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner - is desirable

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate - is desirable

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet, and OSI model fundamentals.

  • Familiarity with Cisco switches, routers (ISR/ASR), and Firepower security appliances.

  • Exposure to BGP, EIGRP, IPSEC VPNs, and wireless technologies (Cisco WLC, Cisco Meraki).

  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds), ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow), and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, Nmap, traceroute).

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Visio, Excel, and Word.

  • Experience in retail or terminal-based network environments is a plus.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
