Collections Manager Essential Functions
* Develop and execute strategies to improve collection rates and reduce delinquency. * Forecast collection trends and set strategic goals based on data analysis. * Maintain, manage, update all information, and recommend enhancements to optimize Firm collection software. * Manage distribution of monthly notices to billing attorneys regarding outstanding accounts receivable. * Manage distribution of monthly client statements. * Delegate, prepare and process write-offs as requested. * Follow-up with Attorneys, Legal Executive Assistants and Billing Analysts to ensure timely processing and accurate applications of cash. * Ownership of efficiently and accurately researching and resolving unapplied retainers, unapplied cash, cost credits, and other AR issues. * Work with the Controller to ensure proper financial effect of all cash application functions, which will provide the data for an accurate Daily Cash Report. * Resolve escalated collections issues, brought to light by team, and train on resolution so they are empowered going forward, if possible. * Understand and demonstrate all facets of collection functions, including billing and client payments * Ensure compliance with internal policies and client guidelines. * Develop and implement strategies to identify trends, risks and opportunities leading to improved collections processes. * Maintain accurate documentation of payment agreements and terms within software for reporting purposes. Non-Essential Functions * Other duties may be assigned, as necessary. Minimum Qualification * College degree or commensurate experience with high school diploma. * Law firm or professional services background preferred. * Individual should have previous knowledge of legal collections. * Basic to intermediate skill level with Excel is required. Success Factors * Must be detail oriented. * Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. * Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. * Interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with attorneys and staff via telephone, email or in person to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. * Ability to effectively manage through problems and seek resolution with minimal supervision. * Knowledge of Elite 3E a plus. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook. Work Environment * Non-smoking environment. * Must be available to work beyond normal work hours. * Must be able to work under tight deadlines and stressful situations. * Hybrid work arrangements are available for this position. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $125,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
