UEWR Radar Test Engineer

Contingent upon prime contractor approval.

Purpose:


  • Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for a UEWR Radar Test Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.


Job Description:


  • Provide engineering support for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Upgraded Early Warning Radar Project Office (GMSU).
  • Represent the program office in multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) related to radar system testing, acceptance, deployment, weapon site facility design and construction, weapon site activation, and sustainment engineering activities.
  • Provide support to Failure Review Board (FRB) and Corrective Action activity.
  • Provide support to obsolescence management activity.
  • Track software development programs, identify potential issues that will result in failure to achieve development milestones, develop and advocate courses of action for resolution of issues.
  • Produce, review and manage engineering documents. Prepare technical and position papers, engineering briefs, schedules and risk management documents.
  • Develop program plans, plan of action and milestone (POA&M) recommendations, and prepare executive level briefing packages and formal documentation. Prepare alternative courses of action analyses and executive level results presentations.
  • Interface with internal and external project stakeholders. Coordinate and manage project activities across other government agencies (OGAs).
  • Assist with the identification and resolution of complex technical issues, as well as provide potential solutions to senior members of the Project Offices, MDA, Combatant Command, on as it pertains to the radar upgrades, system integration and check-out (SICO), employment, and tactical site operations.
  • Apply disciplined systems engineering practices, identify and resolve complex problems associated with technical performance requirements, systems integration, and performance.


Qualifications:


  • Must have at least 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program/project and a MS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Must have knowledge and application of phased array radar theory, function, and design.



Desired Qualifications:


  • Experience with Integrated Missile Defense Radar Systems, preferred.
  • Works independently, applying engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferred.
  • Experience with Program Management, preferred.
  • Experience implementing systems engineering "V" processes, preferred.
  • Knowledge and application of Model Based System Engineering environments, preferred.
  • Familiarity with program protection and Anti-Tamper initiatives, preferred.
  • Experience with software development, testing, and fielding initiatives, preferred.
  • Ability to self-manage and initiate within team structure, preferred.
  • Ability to decompose complex problems to actionable elements, preferred.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries, preferred.
  • Ability to present complex information and concepts to Leaders at various levels, preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MDA Systems Engineering processes and procedures, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MDA organizational structure, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Missile Defense System (MDS) architecture and concepts, preferred.


Security Requirements:


  • Must have an Active DoD Secret Security clearance, and the ability to maintain clearance.



Travel Requirements:



  • Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:



  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
