APP Inpatient 1- Cardiology/Inpatient Consults- MCW/Froedtert- Milwaukee, WI
The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Medicine - Division of Cardiology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care. The APP will collaborate with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis & treatment of conditions requiring intervention in an inpatient environment as a member of the inpatient Cardiology team located at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, & teaching.
The Ideal Candidate will be an APP with strong communication skills, strong foundation in evidence-based practice, and ensure an environment of safe quality care, wanting to be part of a thriving and very collaborative academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW).
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis & treatment of conditions requiring Cardiovascular intervention in an inpatient environment as a member of the Cardiology consults team
- Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission & transfer orders; and consents patients for cardiac procedures
- Order, perform, & interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicate and document information
- Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the cardiology consult service
- Facilitate & communicate with patients, families, and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care
- Attend required training, and meet key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and Joint Commission
- Evaluate quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators & outcomes dashboard
- Acquire information on the most current development & trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature
- Attend and actively participate in team quality initiatives, SPOT meetings, division level faculty and APP meetings, and precept students
Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identify normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status
- Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicate and document information
- Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders
- Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans
- Monitor effectiveness of plan of care
- Educate patients on disease and treatment plans
- Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed
- Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete other necessary documents
- Collaborate and/or consult with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate
- Educate, counsel, and assist patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors
- Attend required training and meet key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission

Advanced Practice Nurse
- Wisconsin RN license
- Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
- Certification as Advanced Practice Nurse (through ANCC or AANP)

- CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire

Physician Assistant
- Wisconsin PA license
- Certification by NCCPA
- BLS and ACLS
- CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire

Inpatient, Cardiology, or Critical Care experience is preferred
